Two Month Check-up

We took Zander to the doctor today for his two month check-up. Stephen came home early to go with us, and thank goodness he did because I don't think I could've made it back home without him. Zander is doing really well--he's an average two month old. He weighs 10.15 lbs and is 23 inches long so both are in the 50th percentile. His head circumference is only in the 25th percentile, so he's a little on the small side for that. Our pediatrician just adores him as I'm sure she adores all her patients.

Then came the painful part. Zander got a few shots in both his legs. The nurse came in and asked Zander if he was ready then turned to us and asked if we were ready. I thought to myself, "Of course I'm ready, let's do this and get it over with so we can go home" (I caught a cold when I returned home from Twin Falls so I wasn't feeling well at all). Anyway, nothing could have prepared me for what happened next. Zander got poked in both his legs and then came the crying and screaming. It broke my heart to hear my little boy cry so hard in pain like that. I couldn't bare to watch so I looked away crying for my baby. It was all over in a few seconds, but the crying and and screaming continued as I got him dressed and in his car seat. I cried the whole way out to the car. Zander had fallen asleep, but when we got home his sore legs ached and the screaming and crying continued as I fed and changed him. I cried again as I tried to sooth him and calm him down. I hope he feels better tomorrow poor boy.
