As of Late

I really love the fall. Come October, the months start to go by really fast because there is so much to look forward to. We have two birthdays, a couple federal holidays Stephen gets off to be with us, and of course, the seasonal holidays. One of the best parts of fall is the yard work comes to an end, and I get to dress in sweaters and boots.

Stephen turned 29 this year. I got him a soda stream. He loves it, and so do I. I'm actually not a huge soda drinker, but I like the syrups I bought Stephen, so I've been drinking more soda than I would normally. It's kinda fun to have on hand. Zander loved getting to play with the balloons and streamers we decorated the living room with.

Stephen has been working really hard at work. He went to Vegas again for a few days last week. I'm glad he's not absent as much as he thinks he'll be working some of his cases.

I haven't really been too busy the last little while. I did go to Twin last month for craft day and mom's surprise party. We stayed with Joseph and Trish and Charity gave me her room and bed. I felt bad making her sleep on the puff pillow in the living room, but I think she kind of enjoyed it. One morning I got out of the shower and saw something hopping around in the window. It was still dark outside, and I thought it was just a moth at first glance, but I took a closer look and it turned out to be a little frog! It was stuck between the screen and the glass, but I couldn't get the window open. Later that night before I went to bed I saw it again, and tried opening the window again. I finally cracked it open! It was around 10:30 and everyone was in bed, so I figured I'd let him loose in the morning. Well morning came, and I went to set him free only to discover that he died. I was really sad and mad at myself for not just doing it before I went to bed.

Last week I burned my eye. I ran out of contact solution, so I went to the store to get more, but they didn't have the usual brand I use. I searched for another one until I saw one I liked. I opened it and used it that night in my contacts. The next morning I put my left contact in my eye and it just burned and stung so bad I was screaming. I couldn't get my eye to open for a few seconds. I finally got my contact out, but my eye hurt SO bad I was crying and tried running it under the faucet to flush it out. My eye was bloodshot looking--all red and veiny and teary. Once I got my composer I called the eye doctor to make an emergency appointment. I looked at the new solution I just bought, and read that it had hydrogen peroxide in it! apparently I didn't read too closely when I bought it. It was a contact cleaning solution, not a saline solution. Well I felt pretty dumb, but I went to the doctor just to be safe, and he gave me some eye drops for infection. He said I had a minor chemical burn on my cornea. I will never make that mistake again.

Our primary program was this past Sunday. I helped write it this year, so the presidency let me take control of it. I sat with Stephen through the sacrament to help with the kids before I needed to go up on the stand. I think Stephen was a little stressed out having to take care of both boys alone. I took my seat on the stand only to see Stephen get up and leave with Zander. A few minutes later he came back to get Lucas and left. He missed the entire program. I talked to him afterwards and found out Zander had a blowout and got his clothes all dirty so Stephen had to take him home, lol, he must have done it right as I left the bench; poor Stephen.

Last night I took the boys outside for a walk before it got too cold and rainy. We had a great time; we walked around the neighborhood for an hour, and then Zander wanted to ride his scooter down the sidewalk for a while. We came inside to get dinner going, but Zander was unusually quiet all of a sudden, and reaching for Stephen or me to hold him. I knew something had to be wrong because he wasn't running around like a nut like he usually does when Stephen comes home from work. I had him on my lap in the rocking chair snuggled up with a blanket and a movie going. I felt his forehead because I figured he wasn't feeling well when all of a sudden vomit covered my lap, the chair, and the floor. Poor boy (and myself) were up all night. Zander had it coming out both ends, so I was busy doing laundry load after load after load. Zander refused to throw up in a bowl or over a towel. Now it's mine and Stephen's turn to throw up. What a miserable week!

Zander is still learning new things everyday. He will usually repeat words that he doesn't know, and he does it really well. His pronunciation is getting much better and we are more able to understand him when he talks. He turns two next week! I am excited about his birthday probably more than he is, but I still have no clue what to do for a cake yet. It seems like he is always getting into trouble like all toddlers do. I can't leave him alone for more than two minutes at a time. He has so much energy that I have to take him outside at least once a day so he can release it all; otherwise he ends up biting, hitting, pinching, etc... anyone in the house including Lucas.

Lucas is five months old today! It's going much faster this time around, but its so fun to watch him learn and grow. He is 15.5 pounds and smiles all. the . time. He is ticklish everywhere and laughs every time his diaper gets changed. He loves to play peek-a-boo with anyone, but really like his mama. He is sleeping through the night with an occasional wake-up call around 5:00 am. He is very tolerant of Zander when he tries to play with Lucas because he gets sat on, his nose honked, and screamed at in the face just to name a few of Zander's favorite things to "play" with Lucas. Zander can be very gentile and loving with him too, it just depends on his mood. Zander will bring him toys, try to wipe his face with a burp cloth, whether he needs it or not, pat his head, and jump in the crib with him every time Lucas wakes up in the morning or from a nap just to say hello.

Life feels a little crazy sometimes, but I love it and everyone in it. I love being a mom of two little boys with a handsome husband who can do it all alongside me.
