Ice Castles

I don't usually make resolutions every year, but this year I thought it'd be a good idea since we had a new baby last year and didn't get out much. So my goal this year is to go out on a date at least once a month. I know we should be going out more often than that, but I wasn't in a place where I felt comfortable asking people to watch the boys. I've always known its important to date your spouse and go out without the kids often, but I just never felt like I could.

Now with Zander being two and his biting days behind him, and Lucas is old enough I don't need to nurse him as often, I finally feel ready to let go a little. I think its safe to say I have some control issues, so finding a good babysitter that I feel I can trust, and actually asking has been challenging for me. I know there are a lot of people who would be willing to do it, but asking is hard. With that being said, we missed January because Stephen has been incredibly busy with this stinking trial that I haven't hardly seen him at all, and he's been busy on weekends doing things he couldn't during the week, so we started off this month with the Midway Ice Castles!

As far as I have been told there is nothing quite like these castles in the entire world. They are unique to Utah and started out as a hobby for the creator. They are hand made and incredible works of art. As we drove up to the site they looked way smaller than they do in the pictures, but they were pretty neat as we got to go in and explore a little. They aren't huge, but big enough that we spent about an hour inside before it got too crowded. There were little rooms, tunnels, "Slots Canyon", secret passage ways, and even a slide! We didn't go on the slide because there was a looong line for it, but we had a great time!
