I have to say, that for January to be the slowest month of the year it went by really fast this year. We’re halfway into February and it feels like forever, and I’m pretty sure it’s because I am so uncomfortable being pregnant that I just need it to be the end of March so we can meet this new family member of ours. Everyone keeps telling me how small I am, and I am gladly taking it as a compliment. Stephen and I haven’t really seen each other for the last three weeks since his trial started, so we haven’t talked much about names. We won’t have one until we see our son anyway, so I’m not worried about not picking one out yet.
Stephen has quite literally worked himself sick. He’s been sick for 3 weeks (since the trial started) with what he thought was a bad cold, and it could’ve have started out that way, but I think working long, late hours and weekends for three weeks has taken a toll on his health. He has been working around the clock and has had a really bad cough that wasn’t going away. It reminded me of when Lucas was a toddler with pneumonia who sounded very similar, so I urged Stephen to go to the urgent care to get checked out. He came back with a diagnosis of bronchitis that is borderline pneumonia, so I’m hoping that he’ll get a break here soon to get some much needed rest.
Zander is excelling in school, after going to his parents teacher conference we found out he is above and beyond where he’s supposed to be which makes me proud of him and all that he has learned so far. He really loves school and learning and making new friends. He still loves to play with all his Star Wars toys and legos at home. He’s getting really excited to start his flag football season this spring. He’s been practicing a lot at home and with his neighbor friends.
Lucas...is still Lucas. He makes us laugh and cry at home and has formed a great relationship with his sister while Zander is at school. I think he likes to be the oldest and be able to boss Hannah around sometimes. He’s got such a loving and happy-go-lucky personality, but right now he has been loving to test his limits and see how far he can take something and get away with it. He is excelling in his tumbling class and recently got his name on the wall for being able to do a handstand for at least 3 seconds. Lucas has also been into singing lately and actually has quite an ear for keeping in tune.
Hannah is very much a dramatic little girl. She knows how to hold her own when it comes to her brothers’ teasing, but she also has some pipes that are loud enough the burst your eardrum. She loves stuffed animals and has recently added to her collection. A few weeks ago while the kids were outside playing in the front yard one of the neighbors large puppies got loose and ran straight for Hannah. I was cooking dinner in the kitchen so I didn’t hear her screaming, but Zander came inside and let me know what happened. Before I got outside the dog had been captured and Hannah had made her way inside the house terrified, screaming and crying. She was unharmed, but really scared. She does not like dogs and there wasn’t anyone out there to protect her, so I felt really bad. The neighbor girl who is 10 years old came back over a couple hours later and gave Hannah a new stuffed kitty to help make her feel better. She felt awful about scaring Hannah and apologized which was really sweet.
Hannah and Lucas love to play mommy and daddy every day and have play picnics in the living room and play with all of Hannah’s stuffed animals. I have just been trying to keep up with the kids as best I can with how slow I’ve become with the baby growing so fast. Hannah’s latest thing is telling everyone she has a baby in her belly like mom does, and the boys can’t keep their hands off my belly. They poke, prod, and rub my belly as they talk to the baby telling him how much they love him. I love it, but sometimes it’s too much and I have to have my space. I’m hoping to finish a baby blanket next weekend with mom when we go to Twin for Sydney’s baby shower. I also have to paint the nursery and get a dresser within the next month. So I guess you could say that nesting is settling in, but I have no energy or desire to do it.
