Memorial Day Weekend in Elba Part Two

Monday we had our adult ride up to Six Mile Canyon on the border of Utah. It was SO beautiful!! We even saw a herd of bighorn sheep! We all had a great time until we were going to return to the start to take another trail. On the way down another four wheeler was coming up the trail, so we had to get off to let them pass. Stephen kind of panicked and rode our machine up the wrong side of the road and we ended up rolling and getting smashed by the four wheeler. It was scary. I screamed, but mostly because I could see Stephen's red jacket ahead of me and I was afraid of him getting rolled over and getting hurt. Well, we both did, haha, but we came away with a lot scrapes and bruises and I hurt my foot. I couldn't walk on it; I was really afraid that I had broken it. Everyone came running to our aid. Garth and Brad carried me to Dad's razer. We ate lunch then headed back to the cabin so I could get my foot looked at. I hated that we ended the trip so short, and Stephen felt so horrible. He was so worried I had broken my foot five days before we were to leave for our Washburn cruise. I know everyone was looking forward to a whole day of trail riding. Hopefully Adam will take us back up there another time. I mainly wanted to see all the wildflowers. The views were just incredible and we could see an old gold mine and the salt flats across the border.

When we got to the cabin Garth took another look at my foot to see if anything was broken and see how much it had swelled. Mom volunteered to take our kids for a few days so Stephen and I could rest up and just in case I needed to stay off my foot for a while. That was so generous of her to do that for us. We went home, but stopped at the urgent care to take x rays to make sure I hadn't broken anything. Everything looked good--no broken bones! He said it was just some soft tissue damage and bruising, and to stay off of my foot for the next 48 hours and keep ice on it. So that's what I did. It feels much better today, and I can actually walk on it with minimal pain.

Things could have turned out much worse than they did. We were being watched over for sure. This is the second time I have found myself underneath a four wheeler. the first time was several years ago when it was just Dad and I. I should have never survived that one, but Heavenly Father was definitely watching over me then too. What a beautiful world we live in. It's great to be alive!

Right after the accident.
On the way back to the cabin.
