The Living Planet Aquarium

We had such a fun time last weekend with the boys at the aquarium. It was the first time Stephen and I had gone since it was moved and expanded. I loved the shark tank; it was probably my favorite next to the giant anaconda that was big enough to eat Zander. Zander looooved it! He was zooming around to all the different tanks saying things like, "wow! Look at that! It's cute!" His favorites were the penguins, turtles, and ducks. Lucas loved to sit next to the glass so he could see in the tanks and see the fish swim by. After we finished we let the boys pick out one thing from the gift shop to take home. Zander, of course, chose a stuffed penguin, and Lucas chose a sea turtle. We went out for lunch and came home in the afternoon. We all crashed and took naps only to find that the basement had, once again, flooded while we were out that morning. Ugh, so lame! So we (Stephen)  used up the remaining part of our day cleaning up the mess and drying out the carpet.
 We found Dory!

I had to take a picture in front of the cocoa tree. I've never seen one before.

Father Son Time

Zander

Zander loves to pretend to put make up on in the mornings when I'm doing my own. I guess this is what you get when you're the oldest and have to stay at home with mom all day. He was really excited to paint his toes to match mine too.
 "Look mom, I'm cute!"

Zander is a pansy when it comes to bugs (thanks to dad) he's fascinated by them, but is scared to touch them, so I've been trying to teach him that bugs are good outside and they won't hurt us...most of them. So whenever he finds an earth worm he has to grab his gloves before he picks it up. But he's getting there; he's becoming more and more brave about touching them after he's had a chance to look to at it and warm up to it first.
This is a little green inch worm we found in our garden the other day when we were weeding.
And this is a quail egg we found in our driveway that looked like an animal had gotten to it first. It was already cracked and yolk had spilled out of it. We love to watch the quails in our yard!
We woke up early one morning to find Zander in the kitchen with a knife cutting up all the bananas on the counter. He even managed to cut his finger.

Spring Picnic

Yesterday we met up with my good friend, Kristina, at Wheeler Farm. Neither of us have really ever been there; I've been to the park, but not during the summer, so we had a picnic and explored the grounds. The kids were all over the place--they were so excited to run around and explore. Our kids are about the same age--a few months difference but I have boys and she has girls. I think one of their favorite things was to feed and chase the ducks and geese. After lunch we walked around to see all the farm animals. It was hot, but a perfect day because it was overcast so the sun wasn't shining hard on us, but we were still sweating. We had SO much fun! We're going to have to go back a few more times this summer. The best part is that it's free! We didn't get around to seeing everything, so maybe next time we'll bring dad with us.
