Father's Day

These kids adore their dad. I mean I wish they missed me every day as much as they do their dad when he is at work. Stephen has been gone for two weeks and working long days so we don't get to see him very much lately. They want to spend their every waking moments with him. Stephen is a hands-on kind of dad who loves his kids very much. He makes sure he gets his time in with them even when he is so tired and just wants to sit for a few minutes. He teaches them how to bake and cook, how to use tools, and lately how to use a dumb bell. We all love to listen to and dance when dad plays his guitar.

This year the kids got dad a bug a-salt gun to shoot at flies and mosquitoes. They also got him a bottle of pop each and something to use in the kitchen some meat rub, saffron, and stroopwaffles  for a treat.We love you Daddy!

First Hair Cut

Lucas Turns 4!

We started the day off by visiting the dinosaur park in Ogden. This place was really cool! They had an amazing rock and gem collection that I couldn't get enough of. The dinosaur bone displays were really neat too. There was so much to do that the kids didn't know where to start; they were running all over the place yelling at how cool everything was. 

When we got home I finished decorating Lucas's cake, and Stephen got dinner ready. Lucas requested hamburgers and hot dogs. The one thing he asked for, for his birthday was a garbage truck that looks, sounds, and moves just like a real one with an arm that lifts the garbage cans up and everything...and candy.

Happy Birthday little buddy! You are so easy to please and so loving, caring, and gentle to those you love. You are such a crack up and make everyone around you laugh. I love your good night snuggles, and your good morning hugs and kisses. You find joy and entertainment in everything to do. We are so glad to have you in our home. 

The Children Will Play While Dad is Away

We went on an adventure to the Ogden Nature Center yesterday and had a blast. We were there all afternoon exploring and practically had the place all to ourselves. Upon arrival we saw all sorts of cool homemade birdhouses on our first trail along with some really pretty birds. We saw some birds of pray, snakes, a big bee hive, and a tortoise before setting off on our own trail. This place was so magical especially since we were alone. The kids got to play in the woods and climb up and through the trees. We got eaten by mosquitoes, so next time I'll remember to take repellent with us. We came to a meadow where we spotted two deer and a mama duck with her five ducklings in the pond. We made it to our destination which was a huge tree house that the kids got to climb up and look out of binoculars. We walked two miles that afternoon, and only made it through half of the trails, so we're looking forward to going again soon.

 We put up our new swing set with the help of our neighbors so the kids had something to do at home. It's a lot smaller than I was hoping, but it'll do for a few years. The kids have been playing on it nonstop. They also kept requesting breakfast for dinner so we had tie-dye pancakes one night and banana waffles the next night. I also had both boys sleeping in their sleeping bags in my room one night (long story), but we've had a fun week so far. Stephen will be gone next week as well, so we'll see what's on our agenda.
