Family Time Part 2

The boys slept over at Jaidin's house and Zander had to go for a ride on Libby. I went to Valarie's karate class with mom and dad on Monday while Tim and KoLei came over for dinner.

One of the days Kimball was outside playing on the swings and noticed a small wasp nest near the playground so he told Grandma about it. Mom says, Oh, I'll take care of it." And proceeded to try and knock it down with a stick (not a smart idea). It comes as no surprise that she ended up getting stung right between the eyes of all places. Her face swelled for the better part of a week.

Tuesday mom and dad headed out to the cabin for little kids camp. They had 8 kids from Jaidin down to Hannah as the youngest. They first took the kids to the lookout and went swimming in the little lake there. The next day they spent at Steadman's and Durfee Hot Springs. They all had a great time--even Lucas who couldn't really do much. Dad gave them a lesson on Manners at the table.

While at the cabin Zander told Grandpa that the Pettingills are holier than the Washburns. He asked why, and Zander said, "Because they say the "S" word a lot."

On the way home from camp Grandpa had Lucas, Cora, and Hannah in the truck with him. Out of nowhere Lucas piped up and said, "I'm the second fattest person in this truck." Dad did not know what to say to that, so they sat there and Lucas holds up his hand and starts to count, "1-Grandpa, 2-Lucas, 3-Cora, 4-Hannah."
While the kids were at camp us moms took advantage and went on a much needed shopping spree in Boise! Becky, Trish, and I dropped off Grayson at Valerie's house and shopped till we dropped at Debra's house at 9:00. We had a blast trying on clothes, shoes, and finding good deals. We ate out at Cheesecake Factory and finally made it to Debra's house. Grandma Watson had been waiting up for us so she could see us and say hi. I'm so glad she did; I'm glad we didn't miss her. I love her so much. We got caught up with Debra and Craig as we ate their homemade ice cream. We had Cold Stone for lunch the next day before heading back to Twin.

We had a sibling dinner Wednesday night. We just missed Adam and Lynnette, but we had a good time talking and laughing. Didn't think to get a picture though.

Zander helped Grandpa out in the pasture mowing, pulling weeds, and taking T posts out of the ground. He got to drive the tractor and lawn mower on Saturday as we moved dirt to the yard. Zander loved every minute of it. He felt so big being on that tractor. He went with Grandpa to D&B to get some gas cans, and Grandpa bought Zander a pocket knife. I can't say enough how that filled Zander's bucket that night. He'll hold that memory forever.
Saturday morning I took Zander on a date. He had been craving some mom and son time, so I woke him up early and we went to the edge of the canyon and took a walk while we watched the sunrise. Then we had breakfast at IHOP. I think we both needed that time together to have some quiet and just be.

That afternoon Becky took all the older kids to do baptisms at the temple. At home, Grandma and Grandpa paid all the kids for doing chores that week, so we took them to the DI where they found their own treasures to take home. Everyone was happy with what they found. We went to Winco next to get groceries and they spent the remainder of their money on a treat. It was the perfect afternoon for them. After that we all went back to Brad's house where they got the slip n slide and water balloons out, and jump in the canal only this time there was a snake  in the water, so the canal didn't last too long. We had dinner and popsicles to our hearts content. It was just such a fun trip this year. I love my family!

There's No Time Like Family Time

Another summer in Twin Falls in the books. We spent two weeks at mom and dad's house, and it was nonstop fun. Becky and I did some shopping while the older kids were at kids camp. We hung out at the house and had cousin sleepovers several nights; the kids were in heaven! They got along really well for the most part. We had lunch at Sally's house and got to see Jacob and Lexi. We had Grady stay with us one night, then the next night they all went to Grady's house and played in the canal all day. Lucas, of course, refused to put sunscreen on and had to deal with the consequences. He got one of the nastiest sunburns I have ever seen. His whole back and shoulders had hundreds of blisters that eventually merged into one big blister while he was at kids camp the following week. It was so painful for him to move and put aloe on him.

Playing in the canal was a big hit!

His burn progressivly got worse as the week went on. And today we found that it is infected.

Sunday we celebrated Dad's 66th birthday!

Summertime Fun

Took a walk around the duck pond at Steed Park.

First time sleeping on the trampoline. Grayson would have joined them had he not fallen asleep on the couch, and Zander wasn't feeling it that night. Maybe another time. They were out there telling ghost stories to each other. They ended up waking up at 4:30, coming inside, and secretly watching tv.

I got to go out to lunch and hang out with my college roommates. It was SO fun catching up! I love these girls. Three of us ended up matching that day.
Hannah lost her first tooth!
Took the kids to the Ogden dinosaur museum. Zander is really into dinosaurs right now so off we went. We took a small tour and learned some things about raptors, the kids dug for fossils for hours, we had a picnic lunch, did a little bit more exploring before we had to go home. They even got free popsicles since it was so hot outside. It was a fun afternoon.

The Utah raptor is Zander's favorite dinosaur

Lucas is such a crack up!
