We decided to make a short vacation out of conference weekend this year. I wasn't sure if the kids would be up for it, but surprisingly they were all excited to have the cabin all to themselves. I knew mom and dad were going to SLC for conference so I asked if they'd be willing to stop at the cabin on their way down to help Stephen and I take all the kids on a ride up New Canyon and Dad happily obliged. The weather was not cooperating however. It kept threatening to rain so our ride got cut real short. It was disappointing for the kids, but nothing we can do about it. They really enjoyed it though. We got off long enough to take some pictures for 10 minutes before it started spitting rain.
Back at the cabin mom and dad took off and we took the kids to the hot springs before dinner. It was quite perfect. We brought homemade chicken and rice soup for dinner and then settled in the watch a Halloween movie together.
Saturday the boys rode the four wheelers a bit and built on their forts in the pasture in between sessions. Stephen made homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast. The kids painted a picture frame type craft, played with legos, made bendable mummies, and played conference bingo while listening to conference. We went out for dinner and ice cream in Albion and saw a beautiful sunset. It was a nice little getaway for the weekend. Hopefully the kids will remember it.
