Elba Part II

This little guy just started licking his lips all of a sudden. He does it all the time now and I couldn't figure out why, but then we realized he has his first tooth coming in!

Memorial Day Weekend

We went to Idaho and spent the weekend with the family at the cabin last week. We had a lot of fun even though we didn't get to ride the horses or four wheelers this time. The boys had to build a retaining wall and it took all day to do it. I took the kids a couple of times for a hike throughout the day and by the time the wall was completed it was dinner time. After dinner we all went to Durfee's hotspring for a swim. Grandpa Pettingill stayed with us and loved watching the kids play. It was really nice to have him around this year since we don't get to see him too often.

Random Cuteness

The sequence of these photos say it all. I gave Zander peaches for the first time--the first food besides cereal that he's had. He would shake his head after every bite as if they were sour. I tasted the peaches after he was done, and come to find out, they were pretty bitter.

Rachael's Wedding

Chance Encounter

This past Saturday my college roommate, Rachael, got married. She invited Stephen and I to attend her sealing in the Salt Lake temple. We were excited to go, but we weren't able to find a babysitter, so we decided that Stephen would stay in the waiting room with Zander while I went to the sealing. The night before I went to Rachael's bachelorette party and mentioned we couldn't find a sitter for Zander, and Rachael's sister, whom I just met that night, volunteered to take him for me so Stephen could join me. I graciously accepted her offer and told her I'd see her in the morning.

We set out for downtown an hour before we were supposed to be there to be sure we had plenty of time to find parking and Janessa, who was to watch Zander, and find our party inside. We were almost there when I remembered I forgot my recommend, so we had to turn around. We were, now, going to be late. We booked it back downtown, but we couldn't find Janessa anywhere, so I told Stephen he had to stay with Zander in the waiting room. I was kind of sad we couldn't go together, but at least Stephen came to the temple with me.

I went in and met the party, and ten minutes before we went to the sealing room I saw Stephen walk in. Surprised, I asked if Janessa found him. Stephen doesn't know Rachael very well and has never met her family, so I was curious how they found each other. He told me that a girl came up to him and asked what wedding he was here to see. He didn't know Rachael's last name so he just told her Rachael's wedding. She said his baby looks just like Christine, so you must be here for my sisters wedding. She had never seen Zander or Stephen before yet she was able to pick them out of a crowed waiting room just because she saw a connection between me and Zander. How awesome is that!  We just met for the first time the night before and she pick out my baby in a huge crowd without ever meeting him because he looked like me. That's pretty awesome.
